Orchestra Membership

A Message from James Rushman

In 1998 I enlisted my friends from the Hanover Band (who have now gone on to greater things) to play for our very first Prom Concert. The following years Prom, I organised and arranged an Orchestra of local musicians with my friend Kay Durrant taking the role as leader on 1st Violin.

There are many parts to an Orchestra and today I have a database of over 300 musicians who I can call upon, coming from Sussex, Kent, Surrey, and Hampshire and as far as Oxford. They have been quite amazing over the years just coming for one rehearsal prior to the Concert and then one final run through on the day with the Choir. Some of the Orchestra have been with us throughout the last sixteen years with Kay Durrant as our leader. All the Music is delivered to each member of the Orchestra by hand up to three weeks before. They have coped with everything that I have thrown upon them from sacred works to the Birdie Song with everything in between!

I am so proud of what they have achieved, and they have helped the Choir raise many thousands of pounds for worthwhile charities.

We are always looking for new members so if you would like to be part of our Orchestra or know of someone who would like to come and join us, please contact myself James Rushman on 01243 582330 or 07810 583519
